Stillwater HDTV Reception

Hi All

I have been enjoying all the posts and learning. I am in Stillwater, OK (SW part) and I can get KFOR 27, KSBI 51, KOPX 50 (but comes in as 61? I type in 50 and 61 pops up!).

The the 1080i is awesome…unbelievable.

My problem is, I can’t get KOKH 24, or KOCB 33. I can’t figure out why. Aren’t all the antennas on the same antenna farm? I checked with a site: http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.asp and found that I should be receiving these signals. I have a Samsung SIRT-151 receiver and a roof top mounted red coded antenna. I have a rotary adjuster to fine tune it easily. I am not using a booster (amplifier) but am willing to get one if it helped. Could anybody shed light on my problem or suggest what has helped them get borderline signals. The Antenna organization
says I have a better antenna than I need to get  KOKH 24, but no signal.

Thanx in advance,

HDTVseeker

KOPX uses PSIP to map it digital channel on your receiver to give its digital channel the same number as its analog channl. 62 is KOPX’s analog channel. This helps us keep the channels in order. It is wierd that it is mapping to 61.

The reason why you can not get KOCB-DT is that it is broadcasting at a low power. There is a tower coming shortly to work on the tower so they can broadcast at a much higher power. The same goes for KOKH-DT.

I live just west side of Edmond and I can’t get KOKH-DT but I can at least get KOCB barely. :) It will all be better soon.

I’m curious if all stations are required to broadcast their signal digitally by May 2003, does anyone know when Cox will transmit thier digital signal like KFOR 704 & KOCO 705?

You don’t indicate about which city you are asking your question, but since this thread started with an post concerning HD in Stillwater, I’ll presume that’s the city in question.

One week ago, I posted, elsewhere on this web site, a statement that I had been told (indirectly) by the Stillwater Cox Cable manager that Stillwater would have HD service sometime this year (2003).

Sorry Poke, I live in Yukon and subscribe to Cox Cable. I am wondering when Cox will retransmit the digital signal from all of the other television stations that are transmitting digitally like KFOR & KOCO?

We are all wondering the same thing. Currently they can only tell us tentatively that they will carry a couple more (CBS and OETA). The best thing to do is to write or call them and request more stations.
