My turn for KOCO reception problems

After receiving KOCODT fine for months while everyone else was struggling and cussing, I started having problems 3 nights ago.

I’ve got a Toshiba box and a Ratshak antenna in the attic at 44th and Sooner. The signal strength fluctuates from 79 to 96 continuously and never stays steady for more than a second at a time. The result is a choppy picture and continuous audio dropouts. All the other channels are fine.

The only event I can relate it to is I installed a SatC kit on the dish the night it started so I can continue to get HDNET from satellite. But the antenna and dish cables aren’t connected in any way. Its way too hot to crawl around in the attic right now adjusting an antenna.

Any ideas? Have I suddenly developed multipath? Will all this pass when Mars moves further away from Earth?

Sometimes this stuff is very mysterious. As some of you know, I was receiving KFOR-DT very well from the beginning in February 2002, when they showed the 2002 Winter Olympics from Salt Lake City. Then mysteriously in April of this year, my signal strength was mostly nada, bouncing from zero to 50 or 60 percent, but not enough to get a lock on the signal.

Then, a month or so ago, it mysteriously reappeared, getting stronger over a few days, and I now get between 70 and 80 percent pretty much regularly. I actually get fewer dropouts with KFOR-DT than I see on KOCO-DT now.

I didn’t make any changes either time, other than wasting KFOR’s time and mine calling every TV station and radio station in the area looking for answers. It just stopped working for a few months and started again a few months later.

All I can say is good luck.

So your not using any diplexers, splitters or anything? Is the channel 5 the only one who have problems with?

I have the same problem. And I know of another set up similar to mine in Nichols Hills, that has it also. I’m 5 miles east of the towers. The first two MNF games were great but this past Monday’s was unwatchable due to pixeling and drop outs. My signal is in the 70′s but will bounce to 90′s. The receiver says it’s locked but the picture is not even close to good. I’m glad it’s not just me!

I did have few dropouts toward the end of the game last week. I have no idea what the problem could be.

It’s a straight cable run from the dish. I get everything great except KOKHDT witha signal strength in the 40s.

It could be a problem with their encoder I will check with them Monday.

My signal strenght use to be locked at 100. I haven’t watch it recently but I read this post and went to it. It has dropped to 65 but it is still locked with no pixiling that i saw within the hour i watched it. Maybe they reduced power again for some reason.

I live in Bethany. I used to be able to get KFORDT easily with rabbit ears. Now, I can’t pick it up AT ALL. What happened.

I’ve never been able to pick up KOCO’s DT signal, but hey, I have no trouble picking up their little radar dealy on channel 7-2/4-2. [rolls eyes]

I have a Sampo 34" direct view set.

My receiver is a Zenith DTV 1080.
