Is anyone running a Directv HD reciever? I so did you upgrade from a previous reciever and when you did, did your regular channels clear up more for the widescreen tvs.

I have Dishnetwork rather than direct but my regular channels look much better through component inputs. It isn’t close to HD quality, but it is better than S-video. btw, I have a 65" mitsubishi.
The non-hd channels looked about the same as S video did on our other receiver, but of course the HD channels look great! My other receiver I had was a Sony (A5 I think) and now we have a Hughes HD E86. I too have a Mits 65 HD monitor/TV.
I cannot say that there has been any improvement from the earlier receiver for regular old-fashion definition programing from DIRECTV. These channels vary wildly in resolution between channels and sometimes within a channel depending on the quality of the program material. Only really noticable change I have seen is with World-Link — some of their programs are better than they used to be [resolution wise]; I think they must be getting more data space than before, but some of their source material is like VHS in resolution.
On the other hand DVD’s look a LOT better on this set.
