Cable One

Altus Cable One has added FOX KJTL-DT and NBC KFDX-DT to their lineup. I don’t think either of them is HD yet, but the digital picture is better.

Cable one now has:

KSWO-DT ABC
KAUZ-DT CBS
KJTL-DT FOX
KFDX-DT NBC
TNT-HD
Universal HD
ESPN HD
HBO HD
Showtime HD
The Movie Channel HD

Lawton Cablevision has carried KFDX-DT and KJTL-DT for some time now. Very unusual for a system to add a DT station without HD capability.
Has congress addressed "must carry" for DT stations yet? I don’t think so.
Maybe Nexstar has offered these stations to Cable One for free, if Cable One jumps on the bandwagon now. Who knows?
Nexstar certainly showed some strange tendencies in their recent battle with Cox and Cable One.

Your right neither one is HD yet but it is a start. The fact that Cable One in Altus is even carrying digital/HD stations is saying something as they have never really been ahead of the game in Altus but it is a good start.

It is a start. I was about to move to Dish. I hope they (KFDX/KJTL) get their stuff together and are HD soon. I really watch nothing but CBS and ABC now just because they are in HD.

I am not saying anything negative about Cable One (the cable company), my post has to do with Cable One in Altus. They tend to be one of the last to get the newer channels within the Cable One family. I would always check Cable One in other communities, including
Oklahoma, and they would almost always be ahead of Altus. That is all my point was. … As far as KFDX AND KJTL, I have spoken with the Chief Engineer on many occasions and the lack of HD has to do with money. With the same company owning both stations, they just do not want to spend the money until they absolutely have to upgrade to HD.

Cable One is really one of the leading edge cable companies, for their size. Cable One in Duncan carries KFOR-DT.
I wonder why Lawton Cablevision doesn’t carry KFOR-DT. They carry KFOR-TV ch 4.
About three years ago, I saw Time Warner carry the Fox affiliate in Kansas City without HD, but only after the Fox affiliate gave TW a hard startup date for HD.
Local DT’s in Waco sought carriage on Grande and Time Warner. Both flat refused till DT locals had HD.
The big thing in Waco, is TW’s transition to digital simulcasting. 13 channels are now digital under ch 100. When and if the transition is complete, I’m going to have to take a hard look at Time Warner, even if they don’t carry Universal HD. TW carried Universal HD for Olympics coverage. The good thing is TW will have Turner Classic Movies HD, Cartoon HD, and WTBS-HD at startup, if they ever launch.
The bad thing about TW in Wicita Falls is they’re not cutting edge. Those cats are slow. Maybe because no competition.
I wish I new the whole KJTL and KFDX story.

smitzinok: Good luck getting any e-mail response as it took my calling them after 10+ e-mails not responded to. Hopefully something will happen soon with them going HD.
