I’m just wondering if there are any plans to go to a more-traditional message board format here. The way it’s set up now is nice, because it allows for current topics to always be at the top of the front page, but that also means that there are a lot of reoccuring topics about things from time to time (KWTV not doing Dolby Digital, various OETA issues, when will KAUT go digital, etc.). A message board may be better for handling those repeated issues. Plus, it would allow for easier searching of past discussions (something that’s rather limited now), and it would also allow for different sections for different topics (programming, hardware for sale, miscellaneous issues, etc.)
Like I said, the current setup is alright, I’m just wondering if an actual message board might not be even better.

I’ve been working on migrating the site to a different system for a couple of weeks that would include message boards with "instant" posting as well as a way for submitting articles to the admins. I’ll be working on this over the weekend and hope to have a public test site up by the end of next week.
All of the existing data, including users, posts, categories and pages should be included in the migration. In addition, if you have bookmarks to specific posts, those should continue to work as well. The only thing required of users will be that they log into the new system. I’ll post something on the main page when I’m closer to unveiling the new site.

I too would like to see info/reviews/blogs/etc on the new HD DVD stuff.
I’ve completed a workflow that can convert the existing data to the new formats, but I’m still behind schedule on a new design. I’ll be working on it over the weekend and should have something to show you guys next week.

Nice Dennis, that is good news. Glad to see the site moving forward. I am in some online playstation clubs and we use proboards and they are great.
That should be great once its done. Maybe there would be room for maybe some product reviews or something like that as well. Maybe even once HDDVD and Blu-ray movies come avail we could add some reviews about them as well or something. Just a thought. You may not want to go that direction but it was an idea.

This is terrific news and I’m definitely looking forward to the change. And I’ll finally be registering, too–there isn’t much incentive to do so in the current incarnation, in my opinion.
