DirecTV???

So i’m finally moving in a few weeks to the new casa north of Edmond! I’ve got Directv and called them to install the new dish and move service. I pre-wired my house so all they have to do is slap the new dish on the roof. I asked for the new 5 LNB dish but the lady at Directv acted lost, so I don’t know if that’s what I’ll get or not. Anyone have clue. Do you have to have the new MPEG4 receivers to use the new dish??? By the way anyone know of any internet options for me as no DSL, cable or wireless is available out there. Satellite is too expensive…Help, Cisco

PS…dial-up makes me sick to my stomach…UGHHH

I don’t think Directv offers the new satellite yet in this area, just Dish right now I thought. As far as internet goes I think without DSL or Cable making it out that far, Satellite is the only other option. I would imagine someday Cox will offer service out there, depends on how far North you are, but I will tell you that the antenna I have for OTAHD I got from radio shack, its an indoor/outdoor in my attack and it works great, I think I paid $35 for it.
    Good Luck

DirecTV has supposedly been pushing installation of the new AT9 dish because of their future HD programming plans( They lit up the new spaceway2 satellite yesterday ) but you might be better of in the long run if you wait for the new dish. They plan to have a new more slimlined version of the dish later this year.

I have dropped DSL and cable modem from both of my homes and switched to "high speed" cellular. I am on T-Mobile and run 100-200 kbs for about $30 a month unlimited. It works almost anywhere and you don’t need to worry about finding a wi-fi hotspot. Check with your cellphone provider and see if they have a solution for you.

You know that’s crazy because I did try the Sierra AirCard thru Cingular. It was $199 -$100 rebate and $60 a month unlimited. I drove all over OKC with the AirCard in my laptop and got great service. Got to the new house and got HORRIBLE service. Returned it for a refund. Thanks for all the advice and help…Let me tune up the old 56k modem…csssshhhh…ughhhhhh…weeee…weeeeee…

I love that sound! (not really)

You can by the new dish from http://www.solidsignal.com but I don’t think there are any trained installers here in OKC yet. Cisco did you buy an MPEG4 box yet?

The H20 is the MPEG4 non-dvr receiver. The AT9 is the correct dish for MPEG 4 and will also work with MPEG2 – it targets the same old 3 sats plus a couple new ones.

The HDDVR for Direct was supposed to be out at the end of March but is delayed. It will be the HR20-250.

The DishNetwork VIP622 is an MPEG4 HDDVR. It’s out now.

Local HD in the OKC area is supposed to be out by June 1, 2006. That’s what the reps who’ve visted me have said. Which means expect it by September.
