When does Best Buy expect the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players?

Here is when Best Buy expects the Toshiba and Sony HD players and discs to arrive, according to their web site:

Toshiba HD-A1 ($500): week of April 17 (next week).

HD-DVD discs ($25-$28): Tuesday April 25.

Toshiba will play the following 11 different formats: HD DVD, HD DVD-R, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, CD, CD-R/-RW, MP3 and WMA. It will play your existing DVDs, as will Sony.

Blu-Ray discs ($35): Tuesday May 23.

Sony BDP-51 ($1000): week of August 10

If Best Buy is correct, you will have to wait one third of a year to watch Blu-Ray, months after the discs arrive.

The Sony BDP-S1 plays BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE and standard DVD formats.

If you want to get email updates on the above, there is a box on Best Buy’s HD DVD home page where you can put yourself on that list.

The dates keep getting pushed back on both – we have not been given a concrete answer yet for Pioneer, Hitachi, LG etc. I have a meeting Monday morning about LG’s lineup and I’ll pin the rep down.

Just FYI, we carry many of the same exact items that the Best Buys and Circuit Citys of the world do, or we can obtain it, for the same price. We’re a local company, and we know what we’re talking about. Try going to Audio Dimensions instead. You’ll get much better service and more knowledge by far from us than from the big box chains. For example, I’m an ISF Tech and I work as the only salesman in the Norman store (the manager here sells too). I’ve been to Runco for factory training, done Crestron training, etc. – I actually know who my rep is for all of the things we carry and talk to them regularly. If I don’t know the answer, I know who to call.

    Steve,

You have been to the Runco factory? What was that like? I heard they have some good training there for there equipment.

Now the HD-DVD is out, are you going to have some displays running some HD movies? I thought Blu-ray was going out in June with the release of the Samsung box.
