Yes thanks for posting them.
Anyone see any Blu-Ray demos at Best Buy or any other store?
An excellent viewing location is at the Crossroads Best Buy. They have the Samsung Blu-ray player hooked to a just released Samsung 1080p LCD. Just to the left of the display is HD-DVD for a nearby comparison.
On Monday I was shocked to see excessive grain and video noise when watching the House of the Flying Daggers Blu-ray disc. Stopped by again on Tuesday and was informed that Samsung will be upgrading the firmware to solve the problem.
I tried the 720p and 1080i resolution and the picture did smooth out to a more normal look. It’s difficult to describe how it looks at 1080p, but notice how grainy the small photos are in the menu system.
The menu logic is similar to HD-DVD. That should help the studios release new films to both formats.
One warning. Blu-ray discs will not play using the video or s-video connector. That is reserved only for DVD’s.
No players in stock, but plenty of Blu-ray titles were on the shelf on Tuesday.
Enjoy viewing and comparing. HD-DVD is the winner right now, but watch out for Blu-ray perfection that comes from SONY. We all win with better quality as the format war continues.

Went by Quail BestBuy at noon and they had one set up playing on a Samsung 40″ DLP. It had Hitch playing and looked great at 3′ as it was in the middle of an aisle, but it did have one glaring problem. When the camera panned horizontally, the picture was very jerky, almost 1/2″ jumps instead of smooth motion. I can’t believe it was the recording or TV, had to be the player running at 1080p. Since I had read the review links posted here, I knew more about the player than the salesman, as usual. He had no clue about the 25-50GB dual layer playback, but I told him they may have a firmware upgrade to add it by the time the dual layer blu-ray disks come out. This is strange that it is a Sony standard and Samsung comes out with it so far ahead of Sony. I wonder if they rushed it to market or if Sony is having big technology or R&D funding problems? I heard Sony was losing money lately, they have really took it on the chin over the iPod success.
Thursday evening I enjoyed viewing Blu-ray at the Circuit City on I240. The Samsung DLP is a 1080p model and they are playing the trailer disc. Use the remote to access the menu (or use the >> (next) button on the player) to enjoy the various trailers. The Chicken Little one is excellent, but it also shows how bad the large square patterns can get when viewing the green wood behind the batter. At times the picture is perfect, and at other times – grainy and blotchy. I say give Samsung time to fix the problem while waiting for the SONY Blu-ray player.
Another treat was seeing Blu-ray discs at Wal-Mart on the south side of I240 (near the I-35.) They have carried HD-DVD for some time at about $5 off. Nice to see Blu-ray discs today at $19.96.
