Cotton Bowl Gets HDTV Scoreboard

The State Fair of Texas has chosen Daktronics to build a new HD LED powered video display for the Cotton Bowl. This part of the $50 renovation plan for the stadium.

When completed, the new ProStar(R) video board will match the 720p HD standard, with 720 lines of resolution, each line populated with 1,280 full-color LED picture elements (pixels). Center-to-center spacing between pixels is 20 millimeters (.78 inches). Because the display will be completely digital, it will provide complete flexibility, with the capability to show one single large HD image, or multiple images in separate zones or windows. Colorful graphics and animation can be shown. Real time scores, game time and other game in progress information can be easily overlaid on the video image. The ProStar(R) HD display will measure approximately 47 feet high by 83 feet wide. The Sportsound(R) sound system, to be enclosed by a printed identification panel, is planned for the top of the video display.

Hey Joe can we get one of these at Owen Field?

Forget Owen Field….When can I have one in my living room!! =)

I don’t even want to imagine what one of these things cost. Built to withstand hot and cold, sun and shade, rain and snow. How in the world do they keep it running without tons of maintenance?

Can I get one of those for $50?
