DirecTV Problems

For the first time I had a chance to really watch one of my new HD local channels. I was watching the U.S. Open golf on KJRH (Channel 2) Tulsa. I quickly noticed the picture was very poor. I still had my roof top antenna so I was able to switch to 2.1. All afternoon on Saturday and Sunday I switched back and forth and I must say the difference was shocking. The picture on DirecTV channel 2 was blotchy and frequently broke up. For some reason it seemed to be mostly on the bottom half of the screen. My brother has the same service at his house and he called to ask if I was also seeing it. I certainly hope the DirecTV 10 and MPEG 4 September upgrade fixes this problem.

DIRECTV10 is not going to change anything concerning a local station. It is going to be used for national HD channels like NGC, HGTV, and so forth.
chocking data for HD was one of several reasons I left Directv. Maybe they will do better with more satellites but I would hold my breath.
The local hd channels are already mpeg4. They may not be using the latest generation of encoders but they are mpeg 4.
