Cox Announces Upcoming Launches of Four Discovery High-Definition Networks
Cox announced that it will carry the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet and The Science Channel all in HD. The roll out for OKC metro I was told would be soon but no specific dates were given.

How about the History Channel? Cuz its on Cox now as of tonight..
Does this mean that Discovery HD theater is going away? It seems like Discovery HD would make it redundant.
I notice that Dish is getting SciFiHD in October. When is Cox getting this? I really NEED SciFi HD before BSG final season starts!
all articles I have seen have said that both Discovery Channel HD and HD Theater will go forward. Discovery Channel HD will be the Discovery Channel content only with HD Theater pulling from the entire family of channels for awhile.
I figure once everyone (cable, sat, etc) adopts the family of HD channels they will drop the Theater…
There is a report over on the BBR Cox HSI forum that the Cox Omaha market is/has CNN HD…

Dave Bialis said TBSHD will launch next Wednesday (10/3) in OKC. He said it on the radio today…
I noticed lately that the on screen logo on Discovery HD Theater has had less “Discovery” highlited as a name for the channel; but reduntancy seems to be part of the line up since many shows are shared [that started when channels produced HD and passed on to Discovery HD Theater since they were not in HD as a discreet channel. How many places have you seen Desert Speaks and traveled through Europe with Rudy? Shows that once was the Science Channel line up has shown up on the History channel and Geographic has programs that seem odd for it to carry.
But as they all get new programs I hope that stops.
I hope DISH gets in gear to get some of those DIRECTV started carrying ~ with the recent changes from a lot of promises that seemed to stretch on forever to finally delivering, the pressure has to be on to keep ahead of Directv.
Now some are talking about HD channels in multiple handreds; "Comcast officials have announced 400 HD channels by year's end and claim more than 800 channels are slated by 2009" [HD Video Pro, September/October 2007 issue, page 94].
But 800 channels of what? I already watch less than 5% of what I get in HD and SD. I would settle for far fewer than 800 great channels rather than so many of questionable quality; it just occured to me they might mean shopping channels! Boy would that ever move sets of the shelves and into American homes!!!!!
anyway let HD reign.
