Walmart had only a few HD DVD titles in stock this morning and but had a lot of Bluray titles. I saw a really cheap Sony Blu at Sams before the holiday but I doubt it is still in stock.Sony may be able to bribe the world to use blu but I think I will buy another brand of mult player. Toshiba must be tired of e-mails on the question because I could not get the system to work -- said I could not send the email because I did not choose a subject while it would not allow me to choose a subject. Where did this stand off lead for SACD and DVD AUDIO? I have a duel player and no titles to choose from other than a few at Boarders. Once in a while I go through internet sources but there is seldom a new one. Of cource it can be argued that these formats, while providing multi channels, do not really sound that much better so no one really bought in. HD is clearly better than SD tho I doubt there is any better picture from one than the other of the two. I guess Warner found no takers for their duel disc idea. SD and HD on one disc is rare and they cost more.

I got in on the $98 walmart deal for the Toshiba A2 or else I would still be waiting it out. Have to say the 5 Harry Potter movies look amazing from the Hd-dvd player on my 60in Sony.

Well, I hope these people have fun with their little war. I'll buy a nice combo unit that plays both formats as soon as they become reasonably priced. The LG unit dropped from $1200 to $800 in less than a year. I really expect to see this war end exactly like the CD/DVD "plus" / "minus" war and everything become compatible with either format.

Until then, I'll enjoy a surprisingly nice picture from my upconverting DVD player.

While I have been tempted to buy a duel player I still worry about that blu-ray are less robust -- wasn't there a plan to release them in those damnable caddies like RCA's CED disc?
