KSHB, Kansas City's NBC station, turned on full HD local news yesterday, making it the second station in KC to go HD. They have transmitted their syndicated programming in HD for many months, Wheel of Fortune/Jeopardy for example. Looks like OKC will be a local news backwater before long, as Dallas, Tulsa, and Kansas City move forward without us.

This is great news for us viewers. It will make me happy to enjoy their broadcasts even more. I was happy to see. I also like their local weekend morning news in HD.

I wonder if KJRH is broadcasting their Tornado coverage in HD?

I figure that the first station to cover Tornadoes in HD will capture 90% of the viewing public.

I get a LOT of customers who think they are watching HD just because they bought an HDTV.

You might be surprized. I still have people asking,"But does it [HD] really look any better?" One of them has a HD tv but nothing hooked up to it to get any HD.

(Added) In the meantime, good for Tulsa to have a local station doing the news in HD.

At least one network affiliate in this state is paying attention to and upgrading its technology . . . that's good. I wish the other stations would do so as well.

ssimpson makes a good point. I never could figure out (and still haven't figured out) why KWTV would make a big deal out of their chopper being an HD news chopper if they didn't do their show in HD.

I mean, really, what's the point? Do they think we won't know the difference??

Also, I have assumed for a while that their fancy new set that debuted several months ago was a prelude to starting to air their local news broadcasts in HD but, alas, no mention of such.

I can't figure KWTV and/or Griffin Broadcasting (or whatever the name is) out.

Yeah, I just love seeing the HD Skynews Copter...oh but wait they are not broadcasting in HD! Would be pretty cool to watch their weather coverage of storms in HD. If your not going to do it don't advertise it.

Congrats to KJRH and the Tulsa viewers.

I would have bet money that KOKH or KETA would be first to broadcast the local news in HD.
Good thing I'm not into betting!

Wow, that's great news for Tulsa viewers.

I wonder how long it'll be before OKC has a station broadcasting the news in HD. Wasn't KWTV talking up the new high definition camera on their helicopter last summer?
