KFOR-DT has issues…

Someone noted some changes with KFOR-DT last night and speculated that perhaps they were upgrading. Actually, that channel has technical difficulties now and is pretty much non-functional on both my Dish 811 and my EyeTV 500 tuners which probably means some sort of equipment failure. Hopefully, they’ll get it fixed soon…

Their 4-1 and 4-2 are in 480i format

  2. lori.in.norman responds:

Hi, I am in Norman and now I am getting over the air KFOR-DT on channel 27.1, although it seems the signal is not as strong. Also, I am getting KOCO-DT 5.1 for the first time ever, I guess because of the updates they made to increase their power.

  3. zenithtv responds:

KFOR DT has issues all the time! Garbage in Garbage out! KFOR the Garbage Channel! Puke green Video!

  4. Mark responds:

I sure hope they upgrade to more reliable equipment with the digital switch over coming at us in a hurry. It won’t be long and it will be digital or nothing! But then again it would be just like KFOR to not upgrade, and have one of these breakdowns and just go off the air.

  5. sbreshears responds:

I agree with Mark…was just thinking the same thing earlier…..

  6. trueview responds:

I do not know about “4″ directly from DISH but the HD channel says off air and has a color test chart. It is quite entertaining and seems to never have a clitch!

Over the air they are carrying on and IF you missed the early morning weather you can turn to 4.2 and watch it all day long. I wonder if that is what NBC had in mind. I don’t keep up with 5’sweather channel for fear I will miss Samatha Davis whoknows her forcasts.

  7. Dennis Whiteman responds:

Last night, I tuned KFOR-DT in with my Dish 811 and it spontaneously rebooted and in the process destroyed my HDTV favorites list. On my EyeTV 500, it flickers a bit and then says the channel is unavailable.

Since it crashed my Dish 811, I guess I won’t be tuning them in again until one of you says it’s OK or until I get a new receiver, which will probably be next month. :-)

The really bad part is that I usually record Conan for the musical guests. I sometimes also record Leno, but lately I’ve been recording Letterman’s musical guests because KWTV-DT is more reliable.

  8. Dennis Whiteman responds:

It’s mostly working now, though I guess they think we’re stupid since they’re running everything stretched, which softens and distorts their picture even more. The Nightly News, which is normally in HD, is also stretched SD so I would imagine we won’t be getting any HD from KFOR-DT until they get their equipment repaired.

    Dennis

  9. Bobarino responds:

    Stretched SD from KFOR.

Anyone can have equipment problems, BUT

Why stretch the SD content, unless the intent is to fool unsuspecting viewers into believing that nothing has changed? :-(

If I wanted stretched SD I would set my receiver to stretch it myself, thank you.

    :-(

  10. zenithtv responds:

Like i said before! Garbage in Garbage out! KFOR the Garbage Channel! Puke green Video!

  11. ralfthedog responds:

Bobarino, My guess is that the station is ran by a short fat guy who wants everyone else to look like a short fat guy.

  12. Bobarino responds:

I can’t even watch KFOR’s weather on my 4:3 SD television anymore.

The stretched picture moves the OK panhandle and East part of Oklahoma completely off the screen.

  13. ralfthedog responds:

GARG!!!! I just changed to Cox 704.I thought I was joking about hobbit world! I will be sending an email and a phone call to KFOR. HD should look better than SD.

Just on the off chance any KFOR people hit this fourm, I will be switching to the local ABC affiliate until the problem is fixed.

  14. jv responds:

After years of complaining to KFOR I am convinced they just don’t care about the viewers. They will run the channel how they see fit and if you don’t like it then go watch another channel. They’ve almost completely run me off from NBC programming and I love Medium.

I just LOVED watching last week’s golf tournament when the weather department decides to go to SD and put up crawlers and banners for mild thunderstorms OUTSIDE our viewing area! Do we really need to know about every drop of rain that falls out of the sky?

I wouldn’t waste your breath, folks. Download it the next day off Usenet or NBC.com and be done with it. KFOR is a waste of time and effort.
