Forums are back…

I’ve converted the forums based on XDForums, which was abandoned by its developer, to BBPress, which is maintained by the same people who do WordPress.

Among the new features are:

  1. RSS feeds for the main site, individual forums and individual posts
  2. Tagging and a Tag Cloud showing the most popular subjects
  3. A list of recent discussions and their “freshness”
  4. Support for gravatars or globally recognized avatar. Your gravatars should also work.

In theory, everything should be working now and you can add new topics or post to existing topics. The section labeled “Forums” in the far right sidebar will list the 10 most recent posts at any given time. It’s still a bit experimental so let us have your feedback.

Update: For anyone who might be interested in the process of doing this conversion, I’ve posted a long description of the process for converting XDForums to BBPress on

This is a bit funky. This is with IE7 on a Vista Ultimate machine…

So, I think I’ve fixed that problem. I’m running IE7 under XP, but it should be the same. I can also check it under Vista Enterprise, but that takes longer so if this works, let me know…
