Forums: “Is there a problem with KTUL Dtv?”

Just a reminder that we’ve had forums back up for more than a month:

I haven’t been able to pickup the signal for over twenty-four hours? My signal strenghth had been pretty strong. Does anyone know if they are down?

  1. doublej responds:

They are back up today. They had a hardware failure sometime Saturday night and had no digital backups for OTA. They also weren’t considerate enough to post anything on their website or on the analog channel alerting viewers to the problem.

I have heard many negative comments about the DTV reception of the ABC affiliates in Tulsa and OKC. In OKC, KOCO is the weakest of all the stations on my signal meter on my DTV television. I am hoping that will correct itself after the transition. I presume that both of the ABC stations have to share their transmission lines with the analog and DTV broadcasts, and that may be the reason why the signal is weak.

    Broadcast TV Rules!!!

  3. doublej responds:

You would be incorrect. Their signals are weak because they are protecting the analog signals of two other stations until those stations shut down their analog signals. KTUL digital channel 10 is protecting the analog 10 in Ada and KOCO digital channel 7 is protecting analog 7 in Lawton.
