Apple announced iTunes 8 today, which includes the ability to play back HD programming on Macs and PCs
Finally, iTunes 8 has the ability to play back high-definition TV shows, a newly added component to Apple’s iTunes Store. Apple also says that when users purchase an HD version of a TV show, they also get an iPod-ready version of the same video as well.

If you have iTunes 8, installed these TV shows are available, both as individual shows for $2.99 and entire seasons for upwards of $25-$50. While the TV shows can be played on computers and Apple TV devices, it appears that the HD versions of rented movies can only be played on the Apple TV. Presumably, the TV shows are sold in 720p format.

http://www.hulu.com is also an excellent source. The vast majority of content is free. Basically it is an aggregation service for all of the streaming tv sites out there (such as the networks).
The site is also beginning to premiere some shows 1 week before the actual live television premiere date (30 rock among others).
For those who do not have dvr service, or simply want to catch a show legally without cost at their leisure the site is very useful.

Hulu.com is great. I use it to watch The Daily Show and a few others that I don’t get via satellite.
