That really blows me away. Not 1 TV station in OKC has even hinted at going HD for local news. Has anyone heard any rumblings? I think KOKH could go. Their studio is ready I just don’t know about their cameras. What about 9 or 5? Lame…Wichita beats OKC!

  2. bkm645 responds:

KOKH’s set is ready for HD? Maybe studio B, but their main news desk is very old and not for 16×9. Four, five, and nine now have all of their sets ready for HD, except for four’s weather desk. But, when nine redid the set they got a whole new control room and I think they also got new HD cameras. I think nine will be the first in the OKC market to go HD. I actually thought that nine would have been HD by now. I suspect they will launch HD like they did when they launched the new set; just wake up one morning and there it is.

  3. ggore responds:

As of this week, three of the four major network stations in Kansas City are doing local news in HD, the only holdout is Fox. Meanwhile, just down the road, we here in OKC very soon will have the distinction of being the only market in the country without local HD. I remember the good old days when WKY was proud to be one of the first stations in the country to go color, or stereo, or whatever. None of our local stations do local news in HD, or syndicated HD programming, heck you can’t count on them to even flip the switch to HD at the beginning of any network program. OKC has truly become a backwater in the digital age. Sad.

  4. TVinsider responds:

HD newscast in OKC is a bit closer than you think. I wont mention times or stations.

  5. 1984Poke responds:

I have it on VERY good authority that KWTV-9 in OKC will be broadcasting local studio news in HD at some point relatively soon, I just don’t know how soon “soon” is . . . .

  6. TVinsider responds:

    1984 poke are you CM??
