KWTV, responding to reports of weak signals in certain areas of the state, has begun broadcasting on both channel 9 on VHF and on their old UHF assignment, channel 39. Our cable system received no notification from them about this change, and noticed this morning that we are no longer receiving their channel 9 signal and had to switch to UHF 39. I don’t know if they plan to continue both signals or not. I will post an update after I visit with them later today (11/3).

Interesting. I’ve been wondering why they keep running PSAs telling us to rescan. I guess that explains it.

i believe they have requested from the FCC to double the power output on channel 39 and eventually do away with channel 9 now.
I just did a RESCAN and get 9-1 on a small 10 inch diameter uhf loop antenna in my kitchen in South East Norman.
Obviously I was not able to get their VHF on that antenna.
CH 5 is now the only OKC station I can’t get on that UHF loop.
I think they have their head too far in the sand to do
like CH 9.
I just rescanned my Dish 211K receiver and it found 23 Oklahoma City channels here in Stillwater, including 9-1 and 9-2. I wonder if both of those are HD and one is UHF and one is VHF or if they’re both VHF and one is just an SD mirror of the other. I guess my DVR will find out at 8 p.m.
I didn’t rescan the EyeTV because I’ll likely lose KOCO when I do. I have to wait until the signal is strong enough that it doesn’t go away completely.

The version on VHF 9 labels itself 9-1 and the one on UHF 39 labels as 9-2. They are identical feeds.
when I rescanned — seral times — I keep getting “9.9.” my set must not be able to make up its mind.
After the post above with it’s missing letters in several words I rescanned and deleted VHF 9 and added UHF 39-1 on the favorites list. For some reason I feel better now that I do not see 9.9. I am sorry for the bad spelling in the first post.
Any word on when KWTV is dropping 9-1? Windows Media center shows both channels 9.1 and 9.2, should I start setting to record from 9.2?
