How Many Tulsa Stations are Broadcasting News in HD?

Yesterday, I noted that KOCO had started broadcasting its news in HD. Other than KJRH Channel 2 and OETA, what Tulsa Stations are broadcasting in HD?

KJRH is the only one besides OETA in Tulsa with HD newscasts.

We will soon have HD syndicated programming and commercial spot playback at KOTV and KQCW.

How about Griffin’s KWTV in OKC? Dolby Digital Audio? HD news?

It would appear as of this AM, KOTV in Tulsa is broadcasting their newscast in highdef.

It looks like the news on KOTV and KQCW went HD this morning.

For those wondering KTUL also has HD playback of syndicated programming, but they have not HD with their news yet.

I’m not so sure that KOTV didn’t go the route of KOCO and went SD in 16:9. The clarity as compared to KJRH isn’t there. I might be wrong, but for them to go HD and not really make a big deal of it doesn’t sound right to me. They should be shouting it from tall buildings.

It appeared HD. There was a lot of details you could see in the faces of LeAnn and Rich this morning, at least on my 65in Mitsubishi anyway. That was on KQCW when they switched at stations at 8am. It may have looked better on KQCW since there are no subchannels on the CW like on KOTV.

This is almost amazing to me. I grew up at Fort Sill and am still a huge and interested fan of what goes on in Oklahoma television and radio.

KCEN (NBC), KWTX (CBS, CW), KWKT (Fox) in Waco have been doing local news, local commercials and syndicated in HD for months now.

KWTX broadcasts both CBS and CW in HD. In the beginning, KWTX claimed that only Grey owned stations has the sophisticated equipment to broadcast two HD streams. KXII Ardmore is a Grey owned station, so they tell me.

KXXV ABC (Lawton KSWO corporate) is our only TV station who cannot do local news in HD. Local commercials, local promos, syndicated in HD? Yes.

I’m a little surprised at OKC and Tulsa’s lagging.
