Serious Sound Issues on KWTV (CBS) Tuesday Night

I’m getting serious sound problems with KWTV (OKC’s CBS affiliate) tonight while trying to watch opening tease for Navy CIS. The picture is OK but the sound is terrible–LOTS of breakups. I thought KWTV’s engineers were to have received some new equipment and gotten this sound problem resolved by now. Is it taking longer than [...]

Still Having Major Trouble with KFOR

I’m really frustrated. I’ve tried unplugging and plugging (i.e., “rebooting”) my Dish 6000 receiver twice tonight, letting it re-acquire satellite signal, etc.

Anyone Able to Get KFOR (NBC) on Wednesday Night?

I turned on my TV shortly before The West Wing tonight but was unable to get any signal at all on KFOR DT (4-01), the NBC affiliate in Okla City. I was able to get some signal from the NBC affiliate in Tulsa but it was not very strong (52-56%) and I kept losing the [...]

Loud Commercials on KFOR DT?

Does anyone else experience abnormally loud local commercials on KFOR DT (channel 4) in Oklahoma City? It seems to me that the national commercials that come directly from the NBC network are at about the same volume level as NBC’s network programming. However, the volume level of the local commercials on KFOR seem to be [...]

SBC and DISH Network Teaming Up

Today’s (Tues, 22 Jul 03) issues of the Daily Oklahoman and the Tulsa World had different stories (both locally written) regarding the deal announcement Monday between SBC (was Southwestern Bell) and DISH Network. They expect to be operating together by the first of 2004. Anyone have a feel for what impact that may have on [...]

Was KTUL Broadcasting a Digital Signal on Friday Night?

Tonight, for grins, I aimed my Winegard 7084 antenna away from the Oklahoma City antenna farm and turned it toward the east to see what I could get from Tulsa.

HD via Cox Cable in Stillwater? No Time Soon!!

After about 10 days of trading emails and playing phone tag with customer service reps from Cox Cable, I finally heard from a person in the Oklahoma Cox operation authorized to speak to me regarding when Cox Cable’s Stillwater operation would commence HD service. Answer: It’s not even on the radar screen. (That’s close to [...]

HD service via Cox in Stillwater – not so sure???

About 3 months ago (early January 2003), I called the Stillwater Cox office and spoke with a very nice lady regarding when we’d have HD in Stillwater. She said she’d check and call me back.

720P vs. 1080i

I’ve read some postings here that indicate 720P may be better for fast action images such as sports. I currently own a 1080i HD-capable set but have not yet “gone HD” (mostly because I’m waiting for the local Stillwater Cox Cable unit to start trasmitting an HD signal over cable, but that’s another story).

Cox Cable article in CableWorld online magazine

The following link will take you to an article on CableWorld’s online magazine. In today’s (10 Feb 03) issue, there is an article about Cox Cable’s operation in Oklahoma City (mostly) and in Oklahoma in general. About 1/3 of the way into the article, there are a few paragraphs about HDTV service via Cox Cable. [...]

Need a Little Tutoring . . .

I have an HD-ready Mitsubishi TV but haven’t purchased a set top box of any kind yet as I’m still exploring my options (mostly, waiting for Stillwater Cox Cable to start sending HD signals via cable).

What Options Are Open to OKC Cox Users?

Question for those of you in Oklahoma City using Cox: Are you limited only to using one brand and model of set top box (STB)? I believe I’ve read that what is available to you for purchase is the SA3100HD. If that’s true, is that the only unit that will work with Cox? Or may [...]

Cox Cable HD in Stillwater

Today (Monday, 27 January 2003), I called Cox Cable in Stillwater and spoke with a lady (Tonya?) there regarding when to expect HD signals via cable in Stillwater. She said she’d have to check and call me back but she did so. When she called back, she said that Ted, the local Cox manager, told [...]
