Just one week ago on this very site’s front page, I asked why KFOR-DT had broadcast 3 of 5 segments of the HDTV show My Name Is Earl in standard definition on channel 4-1. Other people noticed the problem, but other than a guess about weather maps, no one had an answer.

Is there some reason that KFOR-DT broadcast My Name is Earl in standard definition tonight? Or should we just petition NBC to change the graphics at the beginning to say “Presented in High Definition where available, provided KFOR remembers and feels like it?”

Has anyone else lost KWTV-DT (9-1, or 39-1 in raw signal terms)? At 9:15 PM on Tuesday, I had The Amazing Race 9 on the HD TiVo via KWTV-DT when the picture and sound froze. After a few minutes, I switched to DirecTV’s feed of KWTV-TV and saw that it was working fine. I called [...]

For as long as I’ve had HD, KWTV-DT has shown only the CBS-HD feeds for any CBS programs, because (according to HDTVOK) the station hasn’t had the ability to insert local commercials on that feed, so they’ve just let it run. The Notre Dame – Michigan State game is tied at 38 with less than 3 minutes left. KFOR took it out of HD long ago to show a Thunderstorm Watch (not warning, but watch) map for counties hundreds of miles away from OKC and has not put it back in HD since taking the map [...]

The list of HD programming on the right side of the page says that the Cowboys v. Chargers game on now is supposed to be in HD. If that’s true, why is KOKH-DT showing it in SD, as they did the game before it?

4 PM, June 29. Both 4-1 and 4-2 are black for me, but KFOR-TV (over DirecTV) is normal. Any ideas? Update: 4-1 is back on the air at 4:30 p.m. so it apparently was just a brief outage. Dennis
