i post a comment on they FB page and this what they say CW34 – KOCB Tyler, thanks for watching. We are upgrading our equipment and should be able broadcast all the games in HD very soon.

And Sinclair Television, their parent company, is tripling retransmission rates they charge cable for carrying these two channels over the next 3 years. They are going to have to make the local-HD upgrade before I re-up to carry them on our system, I don’t care if the Super Bowl is on Fox.

I told them a tripling of cost was just a bit much. Their response was that their costs have quadrupled. For what? The networks have instituted fees local stations have to pay the networks now, a response to the fact local stations were raking in all this retransmission consent money and the networks were not getting any of that.

But this is an invisible cost to the viewer. When they turn on their TV and see a horrific picture on an OU or OSU basketball game, that’s when they wonder why the station has never made any investment in HD even though it’s been 7 years since it’s been around.

I can’t find when KOCB-DT went on the air, but since there were comments here in early 2004 about them getting up to full power, I’m guessing they’ve been broadcasting digitally for at least seven years, maybe eight years.

Seven years after beginning, nearly three years after going all-digital (February 2009), they still can’t broadcast any HD except what comes directly over the network feed. Same with “sister” station KOKH-DT. Seven years.

Then again, why bother investing money to serve your customers when the law prevents competition from other affiliates for the same network?

Wow, I flat missed this development. Since 4 moved Jeopardy for its 4 PM “newscast” I’ve been watching Ellen. That is until KOCO’s signal got so bad we can barely receive them any more on our cable system. It has been this way for a month, so I am wondering if they are having some issues. I can’t get anyone there to return my calls, which is nothing unusual.

Not all the stations are on board. I noticed last night while watching “Terra Nova” that KOKH Fox 25 had to switch out of HD to display their severe weather map. I can just barely tolerate the HD maps, but I can watch stuff that’s being switch to and from HD for the weather warnings.

With the switch over to the automation you will see alot more HD content on 4/43. If it is available in HD it will be broadcast in HD. Commercials will slowly transition as they begin to request HD spots if available

wow okc is a bigger market and we have less hd than tulsa. grr…. 16×9 SD doesnt bother me either. KFOR really needs to get on the ball with HD Jeopardy/commercials though.

It actually looks very good on KOTV and KQCW. Everything else they broadcast is HD, so it doesn’t bother me as much since it is just the news in 16×9 SD.
If we could just keep all the weathermen off during primetime, I would be really happy!

That’s too bad about KOTV. When KWTV went HD in Oklahoma City, they did it right because most of their commercials are now in HD. That put a lot of pressure on the other Oklahoma City stations.

KOTV and KQCW are still 16 x 9 digital SD. Waiting for that mythical new building Griffin was supposed to have finished by now.

KJRH has been HD for several years, KOKI went HD back in the spring and now KTUL is HD. That is all the major stations in Tulsa with newscasts other than OETA, which is also HD.

2 and 23 are HD, 6 isn’t true HD last I heard, but are 16 x 9 and looks good. 8 was the last one station to make the switch.

I am surprised that no one has answered this, but then again there is not much activity on this site lately.

Anyway, as you may suspect, Fashion TV is not offered on Uverse according to my TV schedule.

While Dennis has a right to his opinion on religious stations, I wish he would refrain from using such a derogatory term on a public forum in a list that is ostensibly meant to be a permanent addition. I hope the list is not used whole but is “cleaned up” so as to be less prejudicial.
