Other than the first week, Conan has had few that I wanted to watch, which is sad because on his previous show he gave Letterman a run for his money. I record and save the performances on Jimmy Fallon's show now because the Roots are the greatest band in late night television. I actually used to watch Nightline until they dumbed it down so much that it was news anymore... It's not like I was going to watch Jay Leno ever again after this crap, but after Conan actually came to KFOR to do promos and you to pull this chickenshit stuff? This is why we can't have nice things. You just screw them up. For the record, KFOR joined The Tonight Show in progress five minutes late, just exactly as Conan finished talking about the late-night imbroglio. We missed the biggest entertainment story of the year so you could show a fire not doing anything plus studio banter plus commercials that you should have skipped because you didn't run them at the right time. You made bad choices and we don't get to see the hottest thing on television. Good job! We knew NBC was completely screwed, but are all NBC affiliates this bad as well? Each station is terrified of losing a view and so they're afraid that people will channel to a channel that isn't one of theirs. With DTV and HD there is a push to update further and remove old analog equipment that was polluting the path. Previously, KFOR's SD picture was so incredibly unsaturated and washed out that it actually annoyed me to watch programs like Jeopardy, because there would be huge blocks of blue pixellation in the background of each answer (question). I'm noticing recently, however, that while Jeopardy is still in SD, the picture appears to be much clearer and brighter, less washed out. In other words, on par with KOCO, KWTV, KOKH, KOCB, and KETA. Am I imagining it? Morgan had just finished doing his severe weather gig at the top and middle of the 10PM newscast, but decided to do it again over the opening to The Tonight Show when there isn't even a NWS warning in the broadcast area. Note to KFOR: When you cut off the opening to The Tonight Show for Mike Morgan, or for commercials because you pre-empted commercials earlier for Mike Morgan, I change the channel and I don't come back. If I turn it to Conan but I see Mike Morgan instead, I don't keep checking back to see if you're going to let me see Conan. I watch something else instead—and I don't come back for Jimmy Fallon, or Carson Daly, or even "NewsChannel 4 at 5AM" if I'm still awake as I often am. You have an entire channel for Mike Morgan to use as he sees fit. Unlike the other stations, at least as far as I know, KFOR is trying to "make up" for it by running 2-3 minutes of extra local commercials at 10:35, instead of the beginning of The Tonight Show. It should go without saying, of course, that "4Warn 24/7", the 24-hour digital weather channel KFOR still touts, did not stop running its loop of weather that Mike Morgan apparently taped before 4:30 PM while 4-1 was warning about severe thunderstorms. So the station's "weather channel" remains as useless as ever, and now they're running commercials instead of NBC programming in protest of actually having to leave the primetime NBC programming on the air? The HD news is a big deal, and it looks great. Two steps forward, one step back. Ever since the Olympics they really have been upgrading there HD Equipment and have broadcast their "is this a great state or what" segments for months now in HD. No other Channel in OKC has done this or even showed signs that they will be going hd besides OETA. KWTV's set and picture is amazing but it isnt HD and KOCO lol who knows their own by HA. props to koco on weather.even though my 08 civic is ruined due to baseball size hail in stillwater. Yes they are working very hard on a project that has encountered alot of issues due to outdated infrastructure. Stations care at the local level and would love to be full HD, but you got to realize these projects take several million dollars per station and owners arent handing money out. And several million is at the low end. Owners see HD as a money pit not an opportunity. KWTV still doesn't have Dolby Digital audio now some five years or so after Griffin started using its digital signal. I don't really think the local stations care that much about the digital opportunities that have been presented to them. Perhaps, the government should have auctioned off the spectrum they're now using to introduce competition in the local markets. He said that they're working as hard as they can on high-definition, and that they would have been all HD a year ago if they were able. He also said that the SD signal is as bad as it is because the equipment is 10 years old, from when KFOR-DT first went on the air. The HD equipment is very, VERY expensive - one certain piece (I forget already just what it is) costs $20,000. And twelve (iirc) are necessary. Do the math. So I'm gonna take back my prediction that tomorrow's the day. It'll happen when it happens. They did break in briefly in SD so David Payne could talk about the thunderstorms a bit one time. At least they waited until the last joke of Jimmy Fallon's monologue before dropping out of HD into that crappy washed out SD picture for absolutely no reason whatsoever, since all that followed was the same weather map they just demonstrated they could put over HD. KFOR's motto remains, "Thanks for buying an HDTV! We still hate you."
