    From the FWIW department...

Cox has added Onscreen Caller ID in Norman. You need to go into the iTV menu, ie. select the Menu button, and use the Phone Tools to enable the function. You can configure how long the notification stays onscreen and its position.

Good for Norman. We've had that feature in Edmond for a few months, and it is by far the best feature on iTV, IMHO. (I rarely use iTV except for the caller ID feature. I find that it is much faster to check news, weather email, movie times, etc., on the Internet.)

I moved from Edmond to Yukon and I truly miss that feature. Anyone know when Yukon will get it?

jv - This feature was added to all customers in the Oklahoma City metro area overnight last night. To get TV Caller ID you need to have digital cable, Cox phone, and caller ID subscription. If you have those services you get the TV Caller ID feature automatically and free.

I have some screen shots and comments concerning this service in this thread on the BBR Cox HSI forum...

I have tried to access the Advanced Functions screen but it keeps telling me it's not available and to try again later. The software may just not be on all the equipment at the edge of the network yet. I live in a spot that hasn't had Cox all that long. I will try again when I get home tonight and see what happens.

jv - I can confirm that there is no area in the OKC metro area that should NOT be able to receive TV Caller ID. Do you have digital cable, Cox phone, and Caller ID subscription?

Yup. Got the whole package. Digital cable with HD, phone with caller ID, Internet. My account has been riddled with issues since I moved. First it was disabled e-mail accounts. Then a Cox tech showed up, cut our cable, and promptly disappeared. This was at 7pm so a service call wouldn't happen until morning. Not a smooth move to my new house.

I will call tech support tomorrow night and see if we can figure out the issue. All services work without issue and there is no blockiness on the HD channels. The las tech I spoke to said my signal levels were just fine. I've tried all I know at this point so we'll try troubleshooting further with another tech.

    CoxEmp,

Nothing personal... but, you can confirm this fact all you want... when I call a tech support rep on the phone they tell me that it's not available in my area. I live close to I40 and Morgan road on the east side of "Yukon" but actually in OKC city limits. When i launch iTV it tells me it's not available! Tell me what I need to do, are the people on the phone incorrect??

Matthew - Sorry to hear that a rep told you that. That really surprises me.

As long as you have digital cable, Cox phone and caller ID subscription - all OKC metro area customers have TV Caller ID as an added value as no charge. It was activated last week for everyone.

I still cannot get the Caller ID on TV to work and I am in Norman. When I try to change a setting, I get a V20 error. The call log works, but the TV Caller ID has never worked for me. Any help would be appreciated. I called last week and they said that they were working on it, but haven't heard anything. You can e-mail me at dmoran21@cox.net

    Thanks,
    Dave

I had a Cox tech out on Sunday about this issue. Apparently some people are having trouble getting the firmware update. The boxes are capable of getting the update but for some reason do not. The outer ring (R ring) of the Cox network seems to have more of this issue than the other rings hence the issues south of I-40 in Yukon.

Call Cox and log a call. Have a tech make a visit. The tech can't fix it but they need to know so it can be tracked and properly troubleshooted.

I'll post back if/when my issue is resolved.

    Update for the masses...

Cox had 1 or 2 trucks in my neighborhood all week. Whatever was wrong, they found it and fixed it today. I came in this evening and clicked on Advanced Services. BAM! Came up in a second. Phone Tools was on the menu. I called from my cell phone and lo and behold, caller ID showed up on the screen.

If you are still broken, call now and get a tech out. They know the problem and can fix.

    Good luck!

I noticed when I got home from work today that my Caller ID on TV is working. They had to have someone in Atlanta work on it. I don't know what was wrong, but at least it works!

  16. It would be nice if you could clear the logs. It would be even nicer if you could clear an individual number, like the random wrong number from a sleazy strip bar.

PLEASE give us the ability to clear the log.
