    From the FWIW department...

While watching the local news at 5 PM on KFOR last evening Linda C, the
anchor, stated that KFOR will do a short DT only test this coming Friday
during the 12 PM, 5 PM and 6 PM news casts. I can't find it on their
    web site anywhere though.

  2. Ordinarily, I might elevate this to front page status, but after watching their announcement today, I think it's too stupid to warrant further discussion.

Basically, on Friday, they're going to turn off their analog signal for a short time during the noon, 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts and, if you stop getting a picture, you're supposed to call them to find out what to do (get a DTV tuner basically).

What happens if they can't get their tower rebooted and the analog signal is off for several days while they order parts?

    Sheesh...

    LOL...

That would just mean KFOR viewers get a jump on the digital switch date...:-)

They didnt shut down the transmitter. They just pulled the video feed going to the microwave link to the analog transmitter. Audio was intact

Its actually kind of interesting. Alot of the calls were from small cable company subscribers. seems alot of these mom and pop cable companies are still taking analog ota feed. Guess they need to get their converter boxes
