I recently got a HDTV that has a built-in ATSC/QAM tuner. (cheapo “Element” brand 15″ in case you are wondering)
I’m on Cox in Edmond, and when I do a scan it gets a lot of digital channels starting in the 70s and up to the 110s that are formatted like “109-549″ (example, not a real channel). Some didn’t give me a signal, some were listed as “scrambled”, and I had 1 or 2 that actually worked. One of them was the PBS HD channel. I looked on our other TV that has a Cox HD receiver and the second channel number matched up. (Analog channels work fine BTW)
Is there any way to get any HD channels on Cox via QAM? I don’t really want anything besides ABC/NBC/CBS/Fox; anything else is a bonus I guess. I know that I could get those OTA but the person I’m setting this up for (my mom) probably doesn’t want to have an antenna. Even if I can’t get any HD channels it’s not a big deal.
Any advice appreciated – thanks!

I live in Guthrie, and this is my first HD experience. I recently bought a new TV, and I get Fox and CW34 in HD. Fox is 720P on channel 69-2. CW34 is 1080P on channel 69-1. I am going to try purchasing an antenna soon hopefully, so I will keep this post posted as I find out how well it works.
