It looks like cox cable upgraded there HD DVR software last night. The good is that we now have 4 levels of FF and RW, the bad is that some shows are ending early or recording starts near the end of the show.

I don’t think this has any relation to my new external hard drive, but I could be wrong.

I live in Surry Hills, Just North of Yukon. I don’t know if the roll out was done in all neighborhoods.

I tried to call Cox Cable, They did not answer there teck support line.

I talked to the Cox people. It is related to the Daylight Savings Time patch. They are having lots of problems with it, not just the one I am having.

I guess I can say that George W. Bush blew up my cable box. :)

The update killed my HDMI connection. No signal is sent over the HDMI so I had to switch to component video to get an HD signal.

Anyone else have HDMI disabled by the update?

Just a few stupid questions.

1. Does your TV support HDCP? I would think that any TV with an HDMI port would, but you never know.

2. Have you tried turning of your cable box, then unpluging it for a few minutes?

3. Have you called cox to ask them about it? If It is not a HDCP problem, swapping out your box should fix everything.

Yes. HDMI used to work but stopped working after the recent software update.

2. Have you tried turning of your cable box, then unpluging it for a few minutes?

You mean Cox’s solution to every problem? Yes, I tried that and it didn’t do anything. I even swapped HDMI cables to no avail.

3. Have you called cox to ask them about it? If It is not a HDCP problem, swapping out your box should fix everything.

I called them and they told me they were several problems with the update and this may be one of them. That’s why I asked here to see if anyone else had experienced the same problem.

It’s not a huge deal now that I’ve made the switch. I just didn’t want to have to run a new set of component video cables to replace the HDMI. Now that I’ve done that it’s not worth my time to switch the box for HDMI output that has virtually no difference in quality over component for my TV.

My thought was that cox may have supported HDMI before, but just added HDCP security with the last update.

If your TV supported HDMI but not HDCP your TV would have stopped working.

I know that it was a long shot, but it was worth a try.
