I was just told that you can take a satellite receiver such as a standard DirecTV receiver, remove the access card, connect your OTA antenna to it and use it as a DTV/HDTV receiver. Is this indeed possible and if so, how exactly do you get it to work this way?

Any Directv hd receiver except the current models. Some of the samsung receivers require a card to be able to access the menu’s. I currently use a Hughes E86 and a Hughes HTL directv hd receiver for over the air digital channels only, on some older tv’s. If you connect them to a dish that is still aimed at directv’s sats you will also get guide info for the digital locals.
