Am I the only one who has this problem? It’s been going on for over a year.

Almost every night when watching any program on the CW, there will be times when the audio will cut out for a few seconds and be replaced by a loud burst of static noise. I am an AT&T U-Verse subscriber and also have an HTPC connected to a rooftop antenna. My brother is a Cox subscriber. This problem exists through all three connections and can be confirmed through recordings that the issue occurs at the exact same time regardless of how the signal is delivered to the TV. Before everything went digital, I’m pretty sure it only existed on KOCB-DT, not the analog feed.

I contacted their engineering department through http://www.cwokc.com last May. At first they said I was the only person who has ever reported this issue and suggested I might have some kind of interference in my house. After pointing out my brother has the same issue 5 miles away using a different cable provider, they asked for specific times that this occurs. After providing the requested information, I never heard from them again. I didn’t watch much CW last summer, so I didn’t really worry about it, but when the new TV season started back in the fall, I tried to contact them again through their website…this time with no answer at all.

Since the issue is still occurring and seems to have gotten worse, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or knows of a better way to get KOCB’s attention.

Just in case anyone cares, I finally got a response from KOCB’s engineering department. They said they are aware of the issue, but it happens so randomly that they aren’t able to determine the source of the problem, which they need to know before they can start troubleshooting.

You are not the only one, although I never watch live shows.

I use an outside antenna to receive OTA broadcasts.
The programs are recorded by various Panasonic DVD
recorders to DVD RAM disks at LP or EP speed.

Sometimes I watch the programs from the disks.
Other times I copy to pc hard drive and cut out commercials
before watching.

I record programs from KOCB:
sunday 5-6 PM
monday 7-8 PM
thurs. 7-9 PM

I have been startled several times by a loud burst of static.

I have not noted which shows have had the static.
