I was just changing channels surfing and noticed kotv has the weather map and info crawl over the hd feed. They have not dropped to sd, so it appears there have been some upgrades made. I don’t have a 5.1 receiver where I am at right now but the dolby digital icon is lit on my hddvr right now also.

Wow, Griffin finally spent some money on HD? I’m still not getting 5.1 though.

neer figured out why technology doesnt exist to run weather in the sidebars. it would be an excellent use of that space and it would save them from having to do HD broadcasts.

I don’t think it is legal to put the weather in the sidebars. The FCC tells you where to put it.

i was really hoping that kotv had made some of the necessary upgrades. it doesn’t appear so. i think some brain surgeon over there must have figured out that they can run weather warnings on hd without reverting to sd to do so. but now, hd programming is actually worse than it was before. this has been going on for over a year. i didn’t think it was possible for them to take a step backwards from where they were, but now they are offering the absolute worst HD available in tulsa. that makes them the second worst CBS affiliate in the country after KMOV in St. Louis, whose pissing match with charter cable has screwed that entire city.
