As a recent (this past weekend) convert to DISH I have a couple of points and questions. I have the 622 box and an off-air antenna for local HD channels.

I can’t seem to get the DISH remote to work the volume on my Onkyo tuner/amp. It’s mid to low-level equipment a few years old (don’t know the exact model, maybe something like 450?). Anyway neither the codes or the scan seemed to work. Found others with this same problem but no solutions. Any ideas here?

Regarding local channels – I had to subscribe to Dish’s local package in order to receive programming guide information for the off-air HD channels. Did I mis-understand something on this? Is this likely to change in the future?

local subscription for guide info will not change, it is the only way DISH can make any money from providing the OTA tuner in the 622.
