I’ve been a basic analog cable subscriber for a long time, but I recently purchased an indoor HD antenna to take advantage of HDTV without paying extra for Cox’s HD service. Impressed with what I saw, I purchased a Sony DHG-HDD250 DVR, which can record HD programming. The problem I’m having is that through my TV’s HD tuner, I can pick up all the local over the air digital channels except for KOCO. With the DVR I can only pick up only channels 25.1, 25.2, and 43.1, and those channels that I can receive tend to have a lot of interference. I am not experienced with HD antennas and tuners, so I was wondering if anyone could help me. Does this sound like a problem with the tuner in my DVR, or would installing an outdoor antenna help clear the reception problem and pick up the rest of the digital channels? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

I have the same dvr, and I would recommend an outdoor antenna. I have no problems with the dvr tuner in Tulsa, but it is an earlier generation tuner and may not be as sensitive as newer tuners. There is a thread dedicated to these sony dvrs over at avs forums you might want to check out. I have had mine for two and a half years now and still love it. If you subscribe to basic from Cox then plug the cable into the Sony dvr, the local hd signals are unencrypted on Cox, but they will show up with crazy channel numbers. |

Well where do you live? The ATSC signals do not go as far as the NTSC signals for all the stations, KOCO is just the worse on the south side. |

We have an outdoor antenna installed in our attic and receive all of the Over the Air Local HD and Digtial Channels. We Live in NW OKC around NW Expressway and Meridian. However some times during a program we will receive a NO SIGNAL or the program will break up. Is this due to the stations signal or is it on our end. Our HD receiver is a Zenith HDC420 which we have had for almost 5 years and have had no problems with it. The local stations that give us the most trouble are channel 5 and 25. We watched Ugly Betty the other night in HD and the 2 shows following there was NO Signal! All on Channel 5. Since we subscribe to the basic Cox can I plug the cox cable into my receiver instead of using the antenna and receive all of the same stations? Would I be able to receive any more stations in HD? I feel like Cox is trying to force people to change over to digtial and pay more when in a little over a year they will have to give everyone digtial anyway! |

I installed an outdoor antenna and was able to receive all the over the air channels through the DVR that my TV was able to receive before. I’m still not receiving KOCO, even through my TV’s tuner. I live at I-240 and South May if anyone else has any suggestions as to what I can do for that. Doublej, after replacing the old torn up cable from the splitter in the attic to my living room, I rescanned the cable channels and went from 30 digital channels found to 46 digital channels found and got all the local HD channels as you said. |

A bad wire will kill the signal every time… |
