Hi,

OETA continues to disappoint: Miss Marple Series III premiered on “Mystery!” tonight, but in SD at some kind of quasi-16×9 resolution (it wasn’t quite 16×9). OETA definitely delivered with the program that aired immediately prior to “Mystery!”: Nature’s “Kalahari” was spectacular. Last year I hoped that, after enjoying Miss Marple Series II, that this year they might shoot it in HD, or that OETA would broadcast it in HD, but tonight’s was in SD, and I can’t find any information about how it was actually shot. Was it filmed in SD, or did OETA drop the ball and broadcast it in SD for some reason?

It’s a shame that the program is in SD: the new Miss Marple series is throughly excellent. It would have to be, for me to bother watching it in SD. Actually, I can’t recall a single “Masterpiece Theater” or “Mystery” that was broadcast in HD.

They have yet to show anything from Mystery or Masterpiece Theater in HD and both have lots of programming in HD. Instead they switch to letterboxed sd at that time. I watched some of the Masterpiece Theater shows in HD off the PBS hd national feed last year before OETA started all thier multicasting. I try to watch some things of the PBS hd satellite feed with my FTA receiver
