Today (July 26) Cox Cable OKC has 43 test channels going: Test 0 Channel 850 through Test 42 Channel 892. Anyone heard anything to explain that many test channels?

The current test channels are digital versions of many of their analog channels. They are currently testing signal quality of encoded channels in a process to move toward all digital programming for Cox Digital Cable (and Cox HD) customers.
There are plans to add more HD channels by the end of the year but none of the test channels are HD channels.

Now the count is up to 51 test channels.

A Cox Tech said yesterday that 44 channels from the expanded basic line-up are now being tested to be broadcasted as a digital signal. Also, Cox-7, Nick, Disney, Weather Channel are already digital.
