On August 4, I moved my Samsung 160 high definition over the air, DIRECTV, NTSC tuner and Pioneer 4330 plasma from one room to another and at 6 PM each evening I cannot pick up KFOR-DT channel 4.1 and 4.2. Before 6 PM and after 1030 PM I acquire the channel anytime I tune to the channel and have signal strength of 93. After 6 PM I cannot pick up the signal on the Samsung 160 receiver. Sometimes by switching between channel 4 analog and 4.1 digital dozens of times it may or may not pick up the digital channel. I am using a Radio Shack 90 mile outdoor antenna in my attic connected to a DIRECTV 5X8 power multiplexer then use a diplexer to connect to the over the air input on each of my high definition tuners. Signal strength on the other three high definition tuners remain in the 90’s with no problem receiving KFOR-DT when I cannot get the signal on the Samsung 160. Before I moved the Samsung 160 I never had a problem receiving KFOR-DT. I live 18 miles South East of the antenna farm in Choctaw Oklahoma.

The cable run is about 25 feet longer then before and I have two cables to this location connected to the 5X8 multiplexer. Same problem on both RG6 cable.
I have replaced the connectors going into the diplexer four times.
I have replaced the cable from the diplexer to the Samsung 160 three times.
I have replaced the diplexer twice.
I cannot replace the wiring from the DIRECT 5X8 multiplexer to this room. The wiring is working great on receiving the DIRECTV signal and the DIRECTV signal strength is similar to the DIRECTV signal strength on my other DIRECTV receivers.
I removed an old RCA F38310 high definition television from this spot and it always picked up KFOR-DT without problems.

Any thoughts as why it goes bad at 6 PM and good after 1030 PM?

Sounds like some kind of interference. Perhaps there’s a radio station whose signal changes at 6:30 p.m. and goes off the air at 10:30 PM. Or perhaps a neighbor cranks up their HAM radio during those hours…

A few years back, I couldn’t receive KFOR-DT at all for a few months. Since other people were getting it, I knew it wasn’t exactly the transmitter, but none of the phone calls revealed the reason it wasn’t working. One day it just started working again.
