Server Upgrades

Today, I updated both the main site and the forum site to the latest versions of WordPress and BBPress respectively. This should fix the problem where you would be logged out of the main site when you logged into the BBPress site and vice versa. One of the upcoming releases of WordPress should improve the integration between the two even more.

Also, when you login to the main site, you’ll now have a Dashboard with recent comments, posts, links to sites linking to us, etc. This is sort of first step in allowing our users to submit articles to the main page. Sometime this spring, I’ll also be upgrading the design of the site to make it easier to incorporate content from other related HD sites. It won’t be a drastic change, just a better way to provide information to our readers.

Just a month or so ago, we celebrated our seventh birthday and what a great distance HD in Oklahoma has come. In February 2002, we had our first taste with the broadcast of HDNet’s 2002 Winter Olympics feed on KFOR-DT from NBC. We’ve watched as all the local stations have gone digital and now we await the darkening of their analog signals and even more mainstream HD.

Anyway, let me know if you run into any glitches due to the software upgrade I should know about…
