Cable or Satellite? That Depends – New York Times

I found this pretty interesting… Cable or Satellite? That Depends – New York Times About 97 million of the 111 million homes in the United States can buy cable service with high-definition channels, according to the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, an industry group. That includes the top 100 markets and 203 of the total […]

More is Less on OETA

OETA has begun sending out canned responses to people who have contacted them about their new lack of HD programming. I just want to address a couple of points contained in the canned message… True, this plan means we will be broadcasting fewer HD pictures, but there will be far more programming. We will be […]

The end of HD at OETA?

I have a bad feeling about this… As DoubleJ reported in Tulsa, OETA has switched to multicasting four channels again, but this time it looks like it might be for good. I was going to record and watch the American Masters special on Gore Vidal on KETA-DT in Oklahoma City, but instead they are showing […]

OETA Listings Now Correct on

I was programming my EyeTV 500 today to record stuff for the next week when I noticed that now has correct listings for OETA, which broadcasts the PBS HD channel on all of its digital stations around the state. Even better, the PBS programming schedule for OETA now correctly shows a channel called OETA-HD […]

Almost forgot about Woody and the Boss…

OETA is carrying two great shows tonight… Woody Guthrie: Ain’t Got No Home airs tonight at 8 p.m. on OETA. “The music is at the core of what it means to be an American,” says Bruce Springsteen of the work of folk-music icon Woody Guthrie (1912-67), who is recalled via archival footage, photos and recordings. […]

OETA page about HDTV

I noticed last night that OETA now has a page that discusses their HD programming. The page even discusses Cox cable. Does this mean that OETA HD via Cox is imminent?

OETA Master Control

It’s been years now that we’ve been hearing stories about OETA’s Master Control project. What is the status of this? I had read stories here and on other websites last summer that said it was to be completed in the Fall and have heard nothing since then.

What in the world is going on at PBS’s KETA????? There has been nothing but multiplex SD most, if not all, this week. Sometime ago they did do several nights straight in HD, but I had no complaint about that!

OETA subchannels

I don’t know how recent this is, but I just did a rescan of my over the air hdtv channels, and 3 subchannels popped up for KETA. None of them were showing the same thing as analog OETA. Note from UltimateOETA alternates between a single HD channel and four multicast channels. This is usually done […]

OETA and program guide

Every now and then, the question comes up about why (once KAUT-DT) is on the air, anyone in OKC would still want to use analog channels. Tonight, right now, there’s another fine example of why: OETA still has absolutely no control over its program guide. Right now, KETA-DT (13-1) is supposed to be showing Cooking […]

All OETA DTV Stations Go Full Power, More Hours on the Air

I talked to OETA this morning and all of the OETA DTV stations are now running at full power. They have also expanded the hours that they are on the air. All of the OETA DTV stations broadcast from 6AM – Midnight (same as their analog hours) 7 days a week. They pass through whatever […]

KETA expanded hours?

I saw that KETA-DT was transmitting the PBS HD feed at 7:30 AM today. Have they added more hours to their schedule?
