HDNet Offers MLS Fans the Best Picture Quality Available for 2006 Stretch Run

Match coverage includes the MLS Cup Playoffs, FC Barcelona, and six exclusive telecasts

DALLAS, TX (Thursday, July 13, 2006) – Soccer fans can continue watching the “Beautiful Game” in vivid, high-definition television as Major League Soccer today announced its HDNet schedule for the second half of the 2006 MLS Season. Those who watched the 2006 FIFA World Cup in high-definition, or the MLS on HDNet during the past two seasons, can attest that soccer on TV has never been better.

The 15-game HDNet lineup is highlighted by marquee MLS matchups such as:
Los Angeles Galaxy versus D.C. United on Saturday, Aug. 26; Houston Dynamo versus FC Dallas on Saturday, Sept. 2; and New York Red Bulls versus New England Revolution on Saturday, Sept. 9. It includes a great doubleheader on Aug. 6 featuring Chivas USA against the New England Revolution and European Champions FC Barcelona against Mexican club Chivas de Guadalajara. Another broadcast not to be missed is FC Barcelona’s game against the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 12. HDNet will also broadcast games during each of the three MLS Cup Playoff weekends, completing a year of 31 MLS broadcasts. The remaining TBD games in October will be chosen at a later date to ensure that the games featured have playoff implications.

“HDNet gives our fans a spectacular television viewing experience,” said MLS Commissioner Don Garber. “Anyone who has seen soccer in high definition knows that it is the ultimate way to see the game on TV. Our partnership with HDNet allows fans to continue enjoying their favorite MLS teams and players in the best picture quality available.”

HDNet subscribers can watch seven HDNet exclusive games that will not be available on any other English-language television network, nor broadcast through the MLS Direct Kick package. They include two of the most exciting matchups – a showdown between U.S. World Cup midfielder Landon Donovan’s Los Angeles Galaxy and rising star Freddy Adu’s D.C.
United on Saturday, Aug. 26, and the Texas rivalry, in which Brian Ching and the Houston Dynamo face star striker Carlos Ruiz and FC Dallas on Saturday, Sept. 2.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Major League Soccer and we are excited about the second half of the season,” said Mark Cuban, President and Co-founder of HDNet. “With the growth of soccer and the excitement generated by the World Cup, we are thrilled with the potential soccer has in high-definition.”

The national broadcast games on HDNet are exclusively produced and broadcast by HDNet with HDNet announcers, graphics and crews – all in the highest quality 1080i HDTV resolution and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. HDNet is the first all high-definition national television network and currently available to high definition viewers on DIRECTV, Dish Network and cable providers like Adelphia, Bright House Networks, Charter Communications and Time Warner Cable. HDNet has broadcast Major League Soccer games since the start of the 2003 season.

Co-founded by Mark Cuban and General Manager Philip Garvin, HDNet provides viewers with exciting and topical news, sports, music and entertainment programming. The 24-hour all-high definition network features up to 20 hours of new original programming each week, all produced in the highest quality 1080i HDTV format – more original high-definition programming than any other network. The HDNet networks are available on Adelphia, Bright House, Charter, DIRECTV, DISH Network, Insight, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable and more than 40 NCTC cable affiliate companies.
