OK, this section is empty so I’ll add… “something.”

I have a 65″ DLP and a DVD player that up-converts to 1080p. The most noticeable improvements over my previous DVD player:

    * The picture is MUCH sharper. I especially notice this when there are close-ups of faces. They lose that “too-soft” airbrushed look and seem more natural.

    * Diagonal lines and circles are MUCH smoother. They lose the majority of their former “blocky-ness” and obvious “jaggyies.”

    * Switching from true HD content to standard DVDs is no longer “jarring.” Before up-conversion I always thought, “Wow, this looks bad” and it would take a while to get used to the lower resolution. To me it is even an obvious step up from 480i digital TV content.

No, it’s not as crystal clear as true HD, but it’s quite a bit better than standard DVD players. Heck, players are EASY to find for under $100 and it’s a nice improvement for those of us who have a LOT of DVDs.

    No regrets – I recommend!
